Spiritual direction is the creation of space and a place to pause in order to process and unpack and notice the presence and activity and movement of God in our daily lives.

It’s different from pastoral counseling in that it is not focused on solving a problem, but on spiritual growth. It is not about teaching or giving advice or moral guidance. The primary concern of spiritual direction is our deepening relationship with God in the moment of life in which we find ourselves. It is a time of prayer, conversation, and listening focused on an increasing awareness of God in our experience.

My role is to be a companion as you discover and respond to the spirit of God.

Wherever you are on your spiritual journey, you are welcome.

Spiritual direction might be especially helpful when you:

  • Have a desire for a deeper relationship with God

  • Are feeling spiritually stalled or dry, that God is distant

  • Are a leader who needs to find refreshment and soul care

  • Need discernment because of significant transition or loss

  • Have tough questions about God, faith, and life

  • Are wondering how to navigate a new season or finish well

  • Desire to find a sustainable life rhythm and simplicity

Here’s how it works.

A session monthly typically lasts an hour. To be able to welcome those in varying situations, session fees are on a sliding scale that reflects your current ability to pay. Some discounts and a student rate are available.

I hold a Master of Divinity and a certificate in Spiritual Direction from Sustainable Faith, a collective of spiritual directors and pastors working to create a spiritually healthy culture among leaders and their communities. After 30 years of pastoral and entrepreneurial ministry in the US and France, I live in St. Louis with my wife.
